A Sitcom to Avoid at all Costs

Posted on 26 March 2009 by admin

If the two-minute iTunes preview of ABC’s new sitcom In the Motherhood, which was interestingly made unavailable soon after it’s release, is any indication, ‘Motherhood’s going to be a disaster of a show. It’s too bad, because the premise was promising: “a new comedy [...] which takes a look at the importance of family and friends while trying to juggle motherhood, work and love lives in an overly complicated modern world.” Continue Reading

Sci-Fi Channel to Change Name in Rebranding Effort

Posted on 25 March 2009 by admin

Beginning July 2009, the Sci-Fi Channel will be known as Syfy, in an effort to re-brand the network and expand their genre base. According to Sci-Fi Channel (forgive me, Syfy) president Dave Howe, “Without abandoning our legacy or our core audience, we needed to cultivate a distinct point of view with a name that we could own that invites more people in and recognizes our broader range of programming with literally something for everyone [...] Syfy allows us to build on our 16-year heritage of success with a new brand built on the power that fuels our genre: the imagination.” Continue Reading

Can I Get Some Emotion, Please?

Posted on 22 March 2009 by admin

While I understand CSI: Miami’s (CBS) Horatio Caine (David Caruso) is supposed to be the stone-faced hero, shaken by nothing and intimidated by no one, I would love to see some more emotion. He’s like a robot. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles’ (FOX) Cameron has more spirit and she actually is a robot. I’m not asking for him to start sobbing on Eric’s shoulder about his murdered wife or laugh-out-loud at a co-workers joke, but some hint that there’s a man behind those iconic sunglasses would be stellar.

horatioI want to see sadness, happiness, confusion, or heartbreak. The “tell” doesn’t have to be obvious - perhaps a subtle frown or sharp inhale. At the very least, let the poor man smile more than once every thirty episodes. “I swore I saw

him change facial expressions twice. At least that’s what I thought I saw, before I fainted,” comments CreativeThinker via TV.com.

CSI: Miami has a chance to delve into and develop a great character. I just hope they take the opportunity. What makes him tick? I want to know, and viewers do, too. Step up CBS and take a risk. It’ll be worth it, if only to stun the hundreds of users posting Horatio spoofs to YouTube.

Is ABC’s Lost Worth Watching Anymore?

Posted on 15 March 2009 by admin

I admit it, I’ve stopped watching ABC’s Lost. Season four left me so frustrated, I couldn’t take it anymore. Television’s supposed to be enjoyable, I told myself, and when I watch this show all I want to do is throw something pointy at J.J. Abrams for letting what could have been a great thing get ruined. Model Melee at New York ANTM Auditions

Posted on 15 March 2009 by admin

A panicked stampede resulted in arrests and injuries at an open casting call for America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 13 in New York City Saturday afternoon. The popular CW reality show recently announced cycle 13’s cast would include only girls 5′ 7″ and under - a great opportunity for shorter models often overlooked because of their “unfashionable” height. Hundreds lined up along West 55th St. for their chance to be on the show and compete for a contract with Covergirl Cosmetics.

According to reports, the girls stood for hours and were denied food and bathroom breaks. They were told if they left the line, they would not be allowed to return and audition.

Disaster ensued, reportedly, after someone from the crowd yelled an overheated car nearby was going to explode. “Everyone got thrown everywhere,” Annina Manttari, 23, told the New York Times . “People were getting run over.” Following the incident, producers departed and the girls were told to leave.
